The Temple’s True Name: From Earth God Shrine to “Mong Tung Ancient Temple”

What was once a dilapidated shrine has now been formally rebuilt and named “Mong Tung Ancient Temple.”

The Labor of Renewal:
Restoring the temple was a true test of will. With access so difficult, every brick, tile, and stroke of red-gold paint had to be carried by hand from the pier along the coastal trail. Devoted caretakers wiped away years of dust from the altar, repainting it in sacred crimson, transforming a humble earth shrine into a temple of scale and dignity.

The Continuity of Incense:
With the new signboard of “Mong Tung Ancient Temple” raised, the site has once again become a spiritual guardian for the community. Each stick of incense lit symbolizes the Hakka reverence for the land, taking root anew in a place once left barren.
